AQUIDNECK ISLAND HOUSE
Overlooking the Sakonnet strait, the site was cleared of a 1950s track home to make way for the main house and pool house which are designed to provide stunning views of the coastline just beyond the property’s meadow. Both structures echo a traditional residential language—architectural pediments, steeped pitched roofs, wood siding—while also employing modern design elements—glass corners to maximize the indoor/outdoor living, and clean lines & contemporary detailing free of ornamentation.
With the main house, the guest house frames a welcoming entry and parking court. The guest house structure also houses a two-car garage and exercise room.
The outdoor shower at the pool house uses a “skylight” and angled wood slats to maximize natural light and air flow while providing privacy inside the space.
